Positrons at Jefferson Laboratory
نویسنده
چکیده
We review the compelling case for establishing a capability to accelerate positrons at Jefferson Lab. The potential appplications range from the study of two-photon exchange and deeplyvirtual Compton scattering to exploiting the charge current weak interaction to probe the flavor structure of hadrons and nuclei. There are also fascinating ideas for using such a capability to discover new physics beyond the Standard Model of nuclear and particle physics.

Characterization of the Analyzing Target of the PEPPo Experiment
The purpose of the PEPPO experiment is to demonstrate, for the first time, the production of polarized positrons from a polarized electron beam. The experiment was performed in Spring 2012 at the CEBAF injector of Jefferson Laboratory (JLab) using a highly spin polarized electron beam. The positron polarization was measured by means of a Compton transmission polarimeter. This work discuss the e...
متن کاملAn Electron-Ion Collider at Jefferson lab
As explained in the oral presentation [1], the original plans for an electron-ion collider (ELIC) at Jefferson Lab involved the construction of two figure-of-eight rings, intersecting at up to four collision points, with a proton energy of 30-225 GeV (30-100 GeV/A for ions up to Pb) and electrons (and positrons) from 3 to 9 GeV [2]. Since the construction of such a facility must await completio...
متن کاملTwo-photon exchange measurements with positrons and electrons
Two-photon exchange contributions have potentially broad ranging impact on several charged lepton scattering measurements. Previously believed to be extremely small, based in part on comparisons of positron scattering and electron scattering in the 1950s and 1960s, recent data suggest that the corrections may be larger than expected, in particular in kinematic regions that were inaccessible in ...
متن کاملIdentification of Risk Factors for Abnormal Postoperative Chemistry Labs after Primary Shoulder Arthroplasty
Purpose Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine patient-specific risk factors and clinical intervention rates for abnormal postoperative Chem-7 panels in shoulder arthroplasty patients. Methods Retrospectively, all primary anatomic total (aTSA) and reverse shoulder (RTSA) arthroplasties (between 2007-2013) performed at a single institution were identified. All patients underwent ro...
متن کاملSuperconducting Rf Cavity Development with Uk Industry
As part of a STFC Industrial Programme Support Scheme (PIPSS) grant Daresbury Laboratory and Shakespeare Engineering Ltd have fabricated, processed and tested a single cell 1.3 GHz superconducting RF cavity, in collaboration with Jefferson Laboratory. The overall aim of the project through a knowledge exchange programme was to develop the capability of UK industry to fabricate and process a sin...
